See also: The Project
We would like to announce that the 2nd international Expedition for high school and college/university students of the Finno-Ugrian world will take place in the territory of the Volga federal district of the Russian Federation 1 to 15 August 2002.
The expedition is intended for high school and college/university students interested in preserving, deepening and valorising their ethnic culture. The precursor of the Expedition was the annual summer camp of Finno-Ugric high school students. All in all, seven camps have been held so far. In 2001, the camp grew into an Expedition. The route of the first Expedition was Izhkar, Udmurtia – the ancient fortress of Idnakar, Udmurtia – Kirov, Russia – Syktyvkar, Komi – Yoshkar-Ola, Mari El – Kazan, Tatarstan – Izhkar, Udmurtia (all in the Russian Federation).
The Expedition is to be dedicated to the Finno-Ugric minorities in the Republic of Bashkortostan and to new educational technologies. It is by no means unknown that the indigenous Mari and the Udmurt minorities resident in the territory of the Republic of Bashkortostan have preserved their high ethnic self-consciousness and original culture better than the rest of the Mari and Udmurt populations. The participants in the Expedition will have the opportunity to see this for themselves. New educational technologies will help to acquire the material and make use of the knowledge in real life.
The aim of the Expedition is to help start and implement educational projects on the ethnic problems of Finno-Ugric peoples with active youth participation.
The tasks of the Expedition are 1. to carry out research into the particularities of the ethno-cultural self-consciousness of Finno-Ugric minorites resident outside their nominal territories of the Russian Federation (the Udmurts and the Maris in the Republics of Bashkortostan and Tatarstan as well as elsewhere). 2. Share with the participants of the Expedition knowledge on new educational technologies
The route of the Expedition: Izhkar, Udmurtia – Öfö, Bashkortostan – Sarapul, Udmurtia – Yelabuga, Tatarstan – Kazan, Tatarstan – Cheboksary, Chuvashia – Tsikmä, Mari El –Nizhni Novgorod, Russia – Sarapul, Udmurtia (all in the Russian Federation). The research part of the Expedition is intended to take place in Bashkortostan, the educational part (lectures, seminars, training, role-plays) on the ferry which will cruise the indicated itinerary.
The programme of the international Expedition will include:
- the business game Techniques of project-based work - lectures by prominent scholars of the Finno-Ugric world - seminars and training of various kinds - a conference - ethnographic excursions - a folklore festival of Finno-Ugric peoples
